After 4 months of pain and swelling on my right knee the decision was made by my orthopedic surgeon Mr. E. Loquet to operate on it.Blink So in I went to the Day Clinic on Monday 13th Feb; just a day after my birthday to be operated on.Blush I was operated under general anesthesy and woke up with 2 holes in my knee which with the stitches in, look just like 2 eyes. And what with the bruising around my knee it looks like I've got 2 black eyesWild

It is still, 3 days later rather difficult to walk Sadand I only hope that I can show Checkhov in Gent in 10 days time,Unsure if not I can only hope that he will show nicely for my daughter Penny. WhistleWhen he was a pup he showed beautifully for her but since he has become an adult dog he's a mummy's boy Loveand doesn't like showing for others. Confused

This morning, 4 Feb. we got up nice and early to be ready on time for the taxi, which was ordered since Tuesday morning and re-confirmed last night 3 Feb at 22.00 hrs, to come to pick me and Higgins up to take us to the station to get the 7am train direction Eindhoven; It was ordered for 6.30 but never turned up, so we took the bus into town and got the 8am train instead.

All was going well until we got past Dordrecht and then we found out that we would have to get off the train in Tilburg and take the local train to Eindhoven. As I had already connected the organiser of the show, Mr. Jan Coppens, and he had agreed to give me an hours lee way I could not take a chance that I might not get there on time so I took a taxi, which I shared with 2 other women, to Eindhoven and arrived there at 11am.  Higgins was sat between my legs curled up fairly small.

I showed Higgins, he received a 1 Very Good from th judge Mrs L.K. Erhart and at 1.30 after again receiving permission, we left the expo hall for the station to make our way home again, this journey took us 4.5 hours and 4 trains but thank god we made it and safe and well back home.

Poor Higgins fell between the platform and the train at the one station as people were crowding to get on to the train and refused to move back a bit so that he could take a clean jump so he landed on the platform with his front legs but his back legs slid down between platform and train. Luckily for us both a gentleman grabbed him by the collar and helped to pull him up onto the platform again.

I should very much like to thank Mr Jan Coppens and  Mr& Mrs Lahaye for their understanding and allowing us the lee way to arrive an hour later than is usually permitted and to leave 1.5 hours prior to the regular leaving time of 3pm.

Finally the breeders of Higgins will be prosecuted for animal cruelty.

When I picked Higgins up last year in Sweden he was on the small side, he weighed only 7.4kg and was 43cm tall instead of being approx 10.5kg and 50cm respectively at the age of 11 weeks.

I also noticed in his passport (once I was on the plane on the way back home) that he had only, and for the first time, been injected for pup illnesses and chipped the day prior to me picking him up in other words on the 28th of April. Normally he should have had his first jabs at about 6 weeks.

Checkhovs breeder in the Czech Republic was very consequent in him receiving his jabs, he was done at 7 weeks, 12 weeks and 4 months as was Kouros' breeder here.

To build Higgins up and to get the weight on him I had to feed him 3 meals per day until his 8th month instead of to his 4th month as you would do with a normal pup.

Luckily, he hasn't suffered too much from the malnutrition and ill treatment that he experienced in his early days and thank god his siblings are now safe and well in good and loving homes.

I sincerely hope that the courts will treat these people with the disdain they deserve and ban them from owning or breeding animals for life.
